Let’s talk about what you do when you hit an income plateau.

I know what it’s like. You've been actively growing your business. You've hit a real level of success. And then... you just seem to level out.

It’s like every single month, you can't seem to make more sales than the previous month. Or maybe you have one big spike — a 12k or 15k month — but then you're right back where you started.

This is the income plateau.

And I know exactly what it feels like…

When I first seriously grew my business in the year after I became a mum, I was having consistent 8k months for the first time ever. It was huge for me and I was so excited.

But then I just couldn't get past it. I'd hit higher numbers occasionally, then bounce straight back to that 8k mark. That cycle went on for ages, but it doesn’t have to.

If you're stuck in that pattern right now, you're in the right place.

Why Income Plateaus Happen for Spiritual Business Owners

In my experience, there are a few reasons this happens — and it's almost always a combination of the strategic and the energetic.

The first is your business model and offer suite have an income ceiling. With your current capacity, your offers, and your price points, you literally cannot make more money in the time that you've got. Raising your prices can help, but if you're already at capacity, it only goes so far.

The second is a sales problem. If you’ve got the capacity for more clients but you're not making the sales, this is where to look next. Is it a strategy thing? Are you actually showing up to sell your offers? Is it a lead generation issue? Do you have enough people in your audience to make the sales you need? Or is it a conversion issue? Do you have the community but they're not buying? That's usually a messaging or positioning thing.

The third reason is energetic. Energetically, holding more money doesn't feel safe in your body and your nervous system. When you've had a big expansion, particularly if it happened quickly, you might reach a point where your system kind of stalls. It's like your body is saying: that's enough, we're good here. And so you ground into that level. That becomes your new normal, which is amazing – that's actually what we want. But if you want to grow beyond it, you're going to need to expand again.

In my experience, there'll be a practical reason you're not growing past a certain level AND there'll be some mindset and energetic work to do.

So here’s what I recommend you do…

Step 1: Get Clear on Your Goal

The first thing to do when you hit an income plateau is get really clear on your goal.

Where are you at right now? What does the next level look like? Because you need to know where you're going before you can start laying the path.

Get specific. Then you can work backwards from there.

Step 2: Look at Your Business Model and Offers

Once you know your goal, it’s time to look at your business model honestly. How are your offers set up right now? What's your capacity? Does it all make sense together?

If you're in a one-to-one only model and you're at capacity, one of the easiest ways to scale is adding a group offering. Something that lets you serve more people with the same amount of time.

If you already have a group program and a scalable model, look for the bottleneck. Sometimes it's one inclusion that isn't working anymore. Sometimes it's about bringing in support. Sometimes it's a refinement of how the offer is structured.

There have been times when I've overhauled my business model entirely, and other times when I’ve just had to refine things and make small tweaks.

Step 3: Do an Honest Review of Your Sales Strategy

Is this a sales problem? And if it is, where's the gap? Are you actually showing up and selling your offers? Maybe you need to run a proper campaign and really give your offer its moment to shine.

Do you need to grow your audience so you've got new people to sell to? Maybe you've launched a few times without doing visibility work in between. Maybe your audience has shifted and they're not your ideal clients anymore. If that's the case, visibility and audience growth needs to come before your next launch.

Have you done the audience work and you're showing up to sell, but people aren't buying? Then look at your offer, your messaging, your positioning. Is it urgent enough? Is it something they see real value in and are willing to pay for?

Step 4: Do the Mindset and Energetics Work

Once you've looked at everything strategically, take an honest look at whether something is coming up for you energetically that's blocking you around holding more money.

It could be a money mindset thing — that holding more simply doesn't feel safe in your body.

It could be a fear thing — that more money means more work, more responsibility, more clients, and that feels scary.

It could be a self-trust thing — that if your business is bigger, you'll need better boundaries, and maybe you've had experiences where your boundaries got leaky and you burnt out.

This is where we want to really look at what comes up for you when you imagine holding more in your business. What would need to be true for it to feel safe? What support, what guidelines, what communication of expectations would help you trust yourself here?

Because if you don't trust yourself to hold it — if there's something blocking you energetically — you will find sneaky ways to self-sabotage. And that is what keeps you at the plateau.

Both pieces matter. The strategic and the energetic. And when you bring them together, that's when you'll be able to scale beyond the plateau and onto your next income level.

If you're in the middle of this right now and you want support to work through it with strategy AND energetics — the Spiritual Business Mistressmind is where that work happens. You can find out more and join the waitlist for our August cohort here.
