How I Fell Back In Love With Content Creation Again

If content creation is currently feeling heavy, draining, or just something that keeps falling to the bottom of your to-do list – this is for you.

Last year I fell back in love with content again after a good chunk of time where I wasn’t enjoying it.

As someone who’s been creating content for almost 15 years (shoutout to my food and travel blogging days!) I’ve had seasons where it felt easy, joyful and expansive… and others where it felt like pulling teeth.

And early last year? I was deep in one of those seasons. Tired. Uninspired. Over it. But I also knew it didn’t have to stay that way.

So I made a decision to change it.

And that’s what I want to share with you today. I want to take you behind the scenes of my own relationship with content – and how I fell back in love with creating again.

Because this didn’t happen by accident. It happened through a series of very conscious shifts.

Here’s what that looked like.

The Mindset Shift That Helped Me Stay Consistent With Content Creation

The first shift I made was deciding that I was no longer available for the negativity. I was done with making content this big, hard thing. Instead, I just focused on consistency.

At that point, it wasn’t about going viral or conversions or growth. It was just about getting back into rhythm. I decided how many times a week I wanted to post, and I committed to that.

And that’s the thing I see so often with my clients. They post once or twice and when it doesn’t land immediately, they spiral. They say it’s pointless, that no one’s seeing their content. But consistency comes before results.

If you’re not consistent yet, that’s the first step.

My Weekly Content Planning Structure That Keeps Me Consistent

A big part of the problem for me was that I was making too many decisions on the fly. Should I do a reel? A carousel? Talk to camera?

So I created a simple weekly content structure:

  • One podcast carousel

  • One other carousel

  • One face-to-camera reel (ideally)

  • One B-roll style reel

That gave me a framework to work within. And I separated out the planning and the execution so I wasn’t constantly thinking, "What should I post today?"

That alone took out so much mental load.

Learning To Love Face-to-Camera Content

One of the biggest things that helped me was embracing beginner energy again. I wanted to create more face-to-camera videos, but I had so much resistance. It felt slow, awkward, uncomfortable.

But I also knew that the only way through was to do it. To practise. To get my reps in.

And now? I can film, edit and post a video quickly. Because I’ve been doing it consistently for months. It got easier because I stuck with it.

Content Repurposing, Support & Working Smarter

I have amazing support in my business – shoutout to Tahryn Bolt who helps me with repurposing my content!

So if you’ve got support, use it! And if you don’t yet, you can still make this easier by working smarter, not harder.

Use what you already have. Repurpose content from other platforms, e.g. your podcast, blogs, emails or old posts. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel every time.

And yes, you can repeat yourself. That repetition is how people actually absorb your message and start to recognise and know you for your expertise.

Bringing Creativity Back Into Content Creation (And Why It Matters)

Last year I did a short video editing course, and it sparked a new creative energy for me. I started experimenting, adding animations, playing with formats. I even created a little series while on maternity leave to test it all out.

And it reminded me: having fun with content is so underrated.

It’s so much easier to make something a priority when it actually lights you up.

What Changed When I Shifted My Relationship With Content

I didn’t fall back in love with content by trying harder. I fell back in love with content by changing my relationship with it.

By deciding it mattered. By building structure. By getting support. By practising. By making it feel fun again.

And now? Content creation feels way easier, and works for me.

So if content is something you’ve been avoiding, resenting or just feeling stuck around – it’s time for a shake up! It really can feel different. It doesn’t have to be this hard!
