Feeling Behind? This Is How I Move My Business Forward With Limited Time

If
you ever feel like you're falling behind or overwhelmed with all of the things you have to do in your business – this is for you.

There must be something in the air, because I had two separate conversations with two different clients on this exact topic last week…

And it's also something I’m personally going through myself right now.

After four months of my husband being home as primary carer for our youngest, he's back at work and I'm navigating a new schedule, more context switching, and a lot less predictable work time.

I’ve had to get a whole lot more intentional and disciplined with how I'm using my time so I’m actually moving things forward in my business and not falling behind.

And today I’m sharing the exact approach I've been using to keep progressing in every area of my business, even with limited time.

This conversation is for spiritual entrepreneurs who are balancing big goals, full lives, and the desire for aligned business growth without burnout.

If you've been stuck in that loop of feeling overwhelmed by everything you haven't done yet, this will help you get moving again.

Start With Identifying Your Priorities

When I sit down at my desk and only havr forty minutes during a nap time – maybe an hour and a half if I'm lucky – I have to be really on it when it comes to what I need to do.

I have to be crystal clear on my priorities.

Right now, I've got my client work, content, visibility and sales.

And I'm thinking about each of these priorities as different streams in my business. Each day I just need to do the one next step for each of them.

Rather than getting overwhelmed by the full to-do list, I'm chunking it down and progressing each priority step by step.

A Real Client Example: How to Stop Feeling Behind in Your Business

Let me use one of my clients as an example, because this is the exact conversation I had with her this week.

She has been deep in client delivery mode after launching a new program and building out the content and curriculum. A lot of her focus has been on that – and rightly so.

But she came to our Inner Circle call this week feeling behind. She has fallen off sharing content consistently and hasn’t progressed plans for other projects and things she wants to do – a new lead magnet and a small builder offer.

She said to me: “I feel overwhelmed, I feel behind, I don't know where to start.”

So I shared this approach with her.

Rather than looking at absolutely everything she needs to do across all of these different areas, just look at the one next step she needs to do for each of them.

Once we did that, we were able to create a simple plan for her to progress these different priorities and start building that momentum in her business.

And the best part is that she came away from that call and implemented straight away, after weeks of procrastinating.

Apply the One Next Step Framework in Your Business

So here’s what I want you to do.

I want you to think about what your priorities are right now in your business.

Yes, there will likely be client work. But what are your other priorities?

What are you doing content-wise? What are you doing project-wise? Do you have a launch coming up? Are you creating a new lead magnet? Are you launching a podcast?

Break them up into different streams that are a priority for you right now, and progress one thing for each stream every day.

This will help you feel like you’re moving everything forward and not leaving anything behind.

The Discipline That Makes This Work

It's a simple approach. But sometimes when you are feeling overwhelmed or behind on what you originally planned to do, simple is best.

Your brain can end up fixating on all the things you haven't done and all the things you need to do – and you stay stuck in this loop.

So know your priorities. Chunk it down into the one next step. And be disciplined around it.

It can be so easy to get on a roll with one thing, or to only do the thing that feels easy, so sometimes I need to remind myself to move on to the next priority.

You only start feeling behind and overwhelmed when you ignore or procrastinate on those areas which you know are important.

So don't do that. Think of each of your priorities as different streams, and just focus on the one next step for each of them.
